Action is Sexy! Join us and make a diffrence in Wichita Pride!
In June of 2011 more than 100 volunteers are needed to make Wichita Pride happen. For the past 20 years Wichita Pride has been sustained by the power of volunteers. By volunteering for a few hours you can become a part of this rich tradition.
Volunteer shifts encompass a variety of duties and time commitments. After you register to volunteer, a Wichita Pride Board member will contact you to match your skills and special needs to the shift that is right for you. Most volunteer shifts are 4 or 6 hours long and take place on June 23rd, 24th, 25th, 26th, and 27th . Wichita Pride also has opportunities for groups of friends or members of organizations who wish to volunteer together. Some shifts do require physical work, such as setting up tables, directing traffic, or walking alongside the parade as a monitor or button seller.
Other shifts are less physically demanding such as assisting with arts and crafts projects in the Family Area, monitoring the festival gate, and helping at the information booth. Please let us know if you have special needs, or health restrictions, and we will gladly find an appropriate shift for you.
As a volunteer you will meet people from around Kansas, have fun, sweat a bit, and undoubtedly leave feeling good. Your reward for your hard work is priceless, for at the end of the day you will have helped create a space for thousands of LGBT people to come out and show their Pride!
Our volunteers also receive a special T-shirt to wear during their shift and other goodies as a thank you from Wichita Pride and our sponsors.
Volunteering is easy and fun - just go to the Volunteer tent and tell them you're ready to help. You will have the gratitude of Wichita Pride, and all those who attend the event. You can simply register to volunteer online below.
